Acacia's Ceramics Gallery
Unit 1
Stamp
For my stamp, I wanted to do a mushroom because it seemed simple and cute. First, I just sculpted the basic shape of the handle, and made the top flat. Then, I drew the light outline of the mushroom and carved away at it.
I think if I did this again I would spend more time making it smooth. Its fine, but it looks a little rough and I just didn't put a ton of effort into it.
Face with emotion
For my face, I wanted to do Coraline because I thought it would be fun to do a more cartoon type face. The hardest part was the noose, but I think it turned out okay.
I didn't end up finishing this piece because I got really tired of the glazing, and I just don't really like how it turned out. I think if I were to do it again I would make a real face, and I would have glazed it differently.
Teacup (underglaze piece)
First I made a pinch pot, and shaped it into the shape I wanted. Then I made the handle and attached it to the teacup. This was the hardest part. Then I painted the greenware with green underglaze, and added little ladybugs and a big ladybug in the cup. Then I fired it and put clear glaze on it.
I honestly really like how this teacup turned out. I think the only thing I would change is I thought the ladybugs were going to fire a lot darker, so I might use a darker glaze, and a brighter shade of green. But other than that I really like how this piece turned out.
