Semester 1 Final (Sunrise, Claude Monet)
For this piece, I scored and slipped four rectangle slabs together, and then attached the bottom. The most difficult part was getting it to not collapse in on itself when the clay was still wet. The glaze is really the main focal point of this piece, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Overall, I am pretty happy with how this piece turned out, especially because my first attempt at the vase did not work so I had to start over.

Claude Monet did not receive a formal artistic education, he was inspired by many other artists. As a teenager, he studied drawing with a local artist, and later learned oil paining from Eugène Boudin.
-
One of the first big impressionist artists.
-
He inspired impressionists, and post impressionists.
-
Influenced Vincent van Gogh, and later Pierre Bonnard and Henri Matisse.
-
I chose Claude Monet because I like his color work a lot, and The Sunrise really drew me in. I like that he painted beautiful things, that may be superficial but I like beautiful things.
