Unit 4 Projects
Monster

This is my monster. The process for this piece was not too difficult. I started with three rectangular blocks and made them into the unicorns body and legs. I used a really thin slab for the blanket, and then sculpted the mane, tail, flowers and horn. I glazed it with regular glaze, and I think the colors and everything turned out very nice. I do wish we had a brighter pink glaze, because the pink that the third grader used was very vibrant. There is unfortunately one patch on its neck that's a bit transparent, and I think some of the glaze may have gotten rubbed off. I am overall very proud of this piece, and I hope my third grader likes it as well.
Small Plate (Choice Project)

This little plate is something I made because I had extra time in class. I made it out of a slab, I cut out a circle and then a ling thin strip for the edges. Then I used regular glaze for the blueberries. I think it turned out very cute, the only thing I would do differently is add one more coat of glaze to the leaves, because they got just a little bit patchy. Overall though, it was a fun little side project while I waited for my other projects to be fired.
My other pieces
The rest of the work I have done for this unit is still waiting to be fired in the mid-fire kiln, that is why there are only two completed pieces.
