Dance has played a significant role in shaping me into a person who “is perseverant and resilient in producing quality work” (S1). One of the most notable examples of this is TWDCC’s annual student choreography night. In this event, dancers create and perform their own choreography for the community. Personally, this has always been a challenge for me. I often face creative blocks and struggle to step outside my comfort zone. Despite these challenges, the experience is always valuable, teaching me how to produce quality work even when inspiration is lacking. My studio provides me with ample opportunities to express my creativity, whether through choreographing my own pieces or bringing teachers' choreography to life through my dancing. Both aspects have their own challenges, requiring perseverance and resilience—physically and mentally.

Dance has also contributed to my growth as “a confident lifelong learner able to adapt to an ever-changing world” (S4). During the 2020 quarantine, when going to the studio was not an option, I adapted by taking online Zoom classes and dancing in my living room. Although this setup was far from ideal, and it was hard to feel motivated, it taught me that I can learn and grow even in difficult circumstances. I learned to adapt to new methods of learning when necessary. Overall, my journey in dance has allowed me to demonstrate both S1 and S4, helping me become the person I am today.
